Christmas Time is upon us....

Christmas is just around the corner and there is still so much to do and so much to learn. Every year it sneaks up on me and seems to come quicker and quicker. Some people might say that's because I'm getting older. We still have two full weeks left before break and I intend to pack a lot of learning within the next two weeks. We will be reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. We will also begin a gingerbread unit I am so stinkin' excited about. I can't wait. I'm not sure who is more excited the kids or myself.

I just returned from an amazing conference and met some pretty amazing  people. The presenters were Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers so it was so nice to meet them. One of my favorite presenters teaches a K/1 split in a small private school. You want to talk about refreshing... God does continue to work in our lives in small and large ways. We serve a very might God.

Keep looking for some pictures!

Tuesday, November 26th

Today was our Thanksgiving feast. We showed up to the feast in our Indian vests and headbands. We celebrate Thanksgiving with the 2nd grade classes so it is crowded but so much fun watching the children interact with each other. I think it is fun for the parents too. They get to sit and chat with the parents they don't normally see on a day to day basis. There was plenty of food and fellowship. Now we are ready to enjoy a 5 day weekend. WooHoo! Of course, I am planning for the three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Sunday, November 10th

This year has been flying by so fast. I can't believe the changes in my kids. They are maturing and learning so many things. We are into a routine and working very well as a group. Friday we went on our 1st field trip of the year. Our class visited Honeysuckle Hill Farm. It was so much fun. The weather was perfect sunny with a chill in the air. The kids (and parents) were so well behaved.  I will post a few pictures. This weekend has been a blur. I visited with my college roommate in Knoxville Friday night and Saturday. Today Kelsey my oldest got baptized. It has been the perfect weekend. Now let's get this week started.

Fall Time

I can't believe it is already fall here in middle Tennessee! It amazes me every year how fast the kids learn and grow. There minds are like little sponges. It is a little scary if you think about all the bad things that could be soaked up. Friday our playground was closed so we went outside for some sidewalk chalk and bubbles. We didn't want to stay inside on this beautiful fall day!

Computer Excitment!

Well for the first time in 20 years of teaching I have a school laptop. It's a Dell not a Mac but I'll take it so I don't have to take my own computer back and forth everyday. It is amazing how much better my audio/visual works in the classroom with a computer designed to work with their system instead of me trying to make it work with my MacBook.

Patterns

September

                       September
We have been busy in Mrs. Posey's Primary Place! The kids have been learning so many things. We are now functioning like a family. We have our schedule down to the minute. This week we are working on working in groups by taking time to listen to everyone's ideas and not being worried about contributing your own ideas. Our class just began our unit on weather. We have made our chart of weather words! This group of kids are so very good at working outside the box. They were coming up with some pretty amazing words. Check out the pictures of our class enjoying learning.

This week has been filled with so many new learning experiences. We began the week discussing how each one of us are so different. God gave each of us different strengths and weaknesses. We read the book Just Be Yourself by Steve Tiller. The books discusses how people are made different but everyone is created special. We created an I Can Anchor Chart. Each student added a sentence about what they could do. I used this to begin our study of the Five Senses. My class is actually in love the Magic School Bus Series. So, we have begun reading the book about the Five Senses. They really like all the bubbles filled with special facts.

Anchor Charts

This week I will be introducing anchor charts and experience stories. We will be writing a story as a class and participating in adding information to our anchor charts. I will evaluating each child individually to see their strength and weaknesses. God has created each and every one of these precious children with different gifts and talents to serve Him.

1st Day

WOW! That is about all I can say about the 1st day. I am pretty sure I have the best class ever. They are going to be so much fun. I'm excited about Monday and all the adventures I have planned. We will be saying goodbye to summer and hello to the school year. Part of the day will be spent in center time getting to know each other and finding things out about our new friends.

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Well the school year is upon us. This is the week it all begins. The next 10 months will be full of excitement and learning. We will be learning so many new things, but not just academic. Our class will be learning how to get along with each other, share our toys, share our ideas and help each other when we are struggling with a hard concept. God created each one of us differently and gave each and every one of us different talents and gifts. Our job is to learn how to use our God given talent to serve Him.
